Meet your guide

Hello and Welcome!

I’m Sarah, owner of Arnica Remote Services and the Guide for Vancouver Island Hikes and Tours. We offer our hiking and sightseeing tours here on Vancouver Island.

I started guiding in Algonquin Park Ontario as a multi day canoe guide. I took the next step in my career and education to finish a two year guiding program in Adventures Tourism at Algonquin College and completed a degree in Tourism Management and Entrepreneuring at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops BC.

After that I moved to the beautiful mountain town of Jasper Alberta where I opened a hiking company with my business partner. After 13 years of busy, and beautiful guiding I decided to leave the company to follow an opportunity working with a remote first nations community, helping with their emergency management and fire safety programs

Since moving here, I have been missing guiding people in the the wilderness. I took a group to West Coast Trail last summer and realized I need to be showing people the remarkable natural beauty of this place.

I am beginning this new guiding company to showcase West Coast Trail, and the other wilderness that Vancouver Island has to offer.

I am a Professional ACMG guide, Wilderness First Responder, Certified EMS, a member of the Interpretive Guides Association. I love guiding people in the outdoors while I teach and continue to learn about my surroundings. I have over 15 years experience taking people in remote wilderness areas and I have travelled, worked and hiked in other beautiful parts of the world

Join me on a trip and I will show you some beautiful places. We will learn about the incredible ecosystem, wilderness, first nations history, and you will hear wild stories of Vancouver Island and the untamed west coast.
